The Run of Show

Your event has a running order. So does our security.

Most incidents start at a hand-off — between setup and doors, between last call and the street. We staff each phase on purpose instead of booking a block of hours.

  1. Weeks out

    Plan

Free site assessment, guest and risk profile, staffing plan and written post orders for every position.

  2. Hours out

    Load-in

Protect vendors, equipment and staging; control the service entrance; confirm exits are clear before anyone is admitted.

  3. Gates open

    Doors

Ticket and guest-list checks, bag checks if required, age checks where alcohol is served, and queues kept moving.

  4. Showtime

    Show

Roaming and fixed posts, crowd density watched at pinch points, early de-escalation, first aid support and backstage access held.

  5. Last call

    Egress

Staggered release, clear exits and walkways, rideshare and parking areas watched, intoxicated guests helped to a safe ride.

  6. Strike

    Load-out

Gear and cash points protected during teardown, venue handed back, and a digital incident report with photos sent to you.

On the Programme

Events we secure — and what each one really needs

A charity gala and a community festival can draw the same number of people and need completely different security. The guest list, the alcohol, the exits and the reputations involved decide the plan.

01 · Black tie

Galas & Private Events

Guests expect to be welcomed, not screened. Our guards work the guest list with your host team, keep uninvited arrivals out without a scene, watch coat check, auction tables and donor areas, and stay discreet in the room.

Typical posts Guest-list door · Floor rover · Valuables & auction · Service entrance

02 · Business

Corporate Events

Conferences, launches, AGMs and holiday parties. Badge checks, breakout-room access, protection for demo equipment and a professional presence that suits a brand on show.

Typical posts Registration · Badge control · Equipment room

03 · Open air

Festivals & Community Events

Open sites, multiple entrances and a crowd that comes and goes all day. We cover perimeter gaps, licensed beverage areas, vendor rows, lost-child and lost-property procedures and the overnight hours when the site sits empty.

Typical posts Gates · Beverage area · Vendor row · Overnight site

04 · Live

Concerts & Venues

Queue management, bag checks, front-of-stage awareness, artist and backstage access, and an orderly release when the house lights come up.

Typical posts Entry lanes · Pit edge · Backstage door

05 · Family

Weddings & Cultural Celebrations

Large guest counts, emotional moments and gifts or cash on the premises. We protect the gift table and shagun or envelope collection, manage parking and baraat or procession routes, and keep the night happy with respect for family customs.

Typical posts Gift table · Parking · Hall entrance

06 · Game day

Sports & Tournaments

Multi-day tournaments and game nights: team areas, change rooms, spectator separation, equipment storage and calm handling when rivalries run hot.

Typical posts Team zone · Spectator line · Storage

07 · Arrivals

VIP Arrivals

Planned drop-off points, a held route from curb to green room, and a clear line between the guest of honour and the crowd — coordinated with the guest’s own team.

Typical posts Drop-off · Route · Holding room

Crowd Management

Six principles we bring to every crowd

International crowd-safety guidance, from the UK’s event-industry manuals to academic crowd science, keeps returning to the same ideas. These are the ones that shape how we post guards.

  1. 01

    Density matters more than headcount.

A venue can be under capacity and still dangerous if everyone packs into one corner. Guards are posted where people bunch up — bars, stage fronts, stairs, doorways — and report when an area is getting too tight to move comfortably.

  2. 02

Arrivals and departures come in surges, not averages.

A crowd that trickles in over three hours can leave in fifteen minutes. We plan door staffing for the peak, not the mean, and stagger releases where the layout allows.

  3. 03

Every way in is part of the way out.

Exit routes are walked and checked before doors open and kept clear all night — no stacked chairs, parked carts or locked side doors where people will need them.

  4. 04

An informed crowd is a calmer crowd.

Clear signs, staff who can give directions and honest updates during delays prevent most frustration before it turns into pushing or confrontation.

  5. 05

One plan, one radio channel, one decision-maker.

Before doors, we agree with you who can pause the show, call emergency services and order an evacuation — so nobody is debating authority in the middle of an incident.

  6. 06

    Friendly first. Firm when needed.

Most problems end with a quiet word and a helpful option. Our guards are trained to de-escalate early, remove themselves from ego contests and document everything that happens.

Advance Sheet

What we need from you

Send whatever you have — a rough version is fine. The more of this we know early, the more precise your staffing plan and the fewer surprises on the night.

The event

  • Date, doors time, show times and expected finish
  • Expected attendance and how tickets or invitations work
  • Venue address and a floor or site plan, even a sketch
  • All entrances, exits and loading access points
  • Whether alcohol is served, and under which licence or permit
  • Any VIPs, performers or speakers with their own team

The rules

  • Your admission policy: re-entry, bag rules, prohibited items
  • Dress and posture you want from guards in the room
  • Your on-site lead and who can make the call to stop the event
  • Venue, City or permit conditions you have been given
  • Any past incidents or known concerns about this crowd
  • Where cash, gifts or high-value equipment will be kept

Ontario timelines worth knowing

Alcohol at a public event? The City of Toronto advises applying to the AGCO for a Special Occasion Permit at least 30 days ahead, and a public-event permit also needs municipal endorsement.

Higher-risk permits. Under the AGCO’s risk-based permitting, the Registrar can attach conditions to a Special Occasion Permit, including a minimum number of licensed security staff.

On City of Toronto property? Park, square and street events may need an Emergency Action Plan, due at least eight weeks before the event. Large public events may also need paid-duty police.

Event security questions

Q · 01All Access

How many security guards do I need for my event?

It depends on attendance, the number of entrances, whether alcohol is served, the layout and the crowd’s history — not on a single ratio. We walk the venue or review your plan in a free assessment and recommend positions one by one, so you can see why each guard is there. If the AGCO has set a minimum on your permit, that is the floor.

Q · 02All Access

Are your event guards licensed in Ontario?

Yes. Every Secure 24 Seven guard holds an Ontario security guard licence under the PSISA and has completed the province’s 40-hour basic training, including First Aid and CPR. We are WSIB certified and fully insured.

Q · 03All Access

How far ahead should we book event security?

As soon as your date and venue are fixed — especially for large or public events, where permits and City plans run on their own timelines. For a sudden gap, such as a no-show from another provider, we can often deploy guards in about 30 to 60 minutes depending on travel.

Q · 04All Access

If we hire private security, do we still need paid-duty police?

Sometimes. Licensed guards and police play different roles, and road closures, traffic direction or a large public crowd can call for paid-duty officers. We work alongside them and fold their posts into the same plan and radio picture.

Q · 05All Access

Can guards stay low-key at a wedding or gala?

Yes. Attire, positions and how guards greet guests are written into the post orders with you before the event. Visible where it deters, unobtrusive where guests are celebrating.
