Why Construction Sites Need Security?
Worksites store expensive tools, equipment and supplies which are susceptible to theft and destruction. But without adequate security, just one incident can lead to tremendous financial loss and project disruption. Secure24Seven brings you trained on-site guards, monitoring, patrolling and controlling access around the clock — guarding what’s yours (and your workers and progress).
What our construction site security guards do
- Access control & subtrade logs — control entry points and record who’s on site and when, so materials and equipment can’t walk off during shift changes.
- Tool, material & copper protection — with copper around $8/lb, metals, tools, and cabling are prime targets; our guards patrol storage and staging areas and lock down high-value materials.
- Foot & mobile patrols — scheduled and randomized, with GPS-verified, time-stamped tour reports you can audit.
- CCTV monitoring — live or reviewed coverage integrated with on-site guards.
- Fire watch — meeting the Ontario Fire Code (O. Reg. 213/07, Art. 5.11.2.5): hourly tours, continuing at least 3 hours after hot work stops (2 hours with a thermal imaging camera), with every tour documented.
Why construction sites need dedicated security
Construction sites are high-value and hard to secure — open perimeters, changing crews, and expensive materials on site around the clock. Notably, no Canadian body tracks construction-site theft (ConstructConnect, 2026), which means losses are under-reported and site-level incident logging is one of the most valuable things a guard program adds. And there’s a lot of exposure: Toronto’s downtown core alone counted 106 tower cranes in Q1 2025 — more than Los Angeles, Calgary, and Seattle combined (RLB Crane Index via STOREYS). We tailor coverage to your build phase and risk.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does construction site security cost in Ontario?
Construction site security typically costs $28–$38 per hour for on-site guards, with mobile patrol often cheaper because one route can cover several sites. Overnight and weekend coverage carries a premium. The rate covers licensing, WSIB, $2 million insurance, supervision, and equipment on top of the guard’s wage. For exact pricing, tell us your site size, hours, and whether you need static guards, patrols, or fire watch.
What are the fire watch requirements in Ontario, and how long must a fire watch last?
Under the Ontario Fire Code (O. Reg. 213/07, Article 5.11.2.5), fire watch tours must be made at least once every hour. When required for hot work such as welding or cutting, the watch continues for at least 3 hours after the work stops — or 2 hours if a hand-held thermal imaging camera is used. A separate provision requires hourly tours during demolition that creates a fire hazard. Our guards are trained to meet these timings and document every tour.
What security does a construction site need?
A construction site needs access control at entry points, protection of tools, materials, and copper, subtrade access logs, scheduled patrols, and fire-watch coverage wherever hot work or demolition is underway. Because no Canadian body tracks construction-site theft, on-site incident logging is one of the most valuable controls a guard program adds. We tailor coverage to your build phase, from excavation through finishing.
Can you provide overnight construction site security?
Yes — we provide overnight and after-hours construction site security across Toronto and the GTA. Overnight is when most site theft happens, so we combine access control, foot patrols, CCTV monitoring, and fire watch where needed. Call +1 (437) 566-3068 to arrange coverage for tonight or on an ongoing schedule.
Are your construction security guards licensed and insured?
Yes — every guard holds a valid Ontario PSISA licence and has completed the mandatory 40 hours of training, including Emergency First Aid/CPR. Our agency carries $2 million in general liability insurance and holds licence 30000287, verifiable on Ontario’s public registry at compliance.gov.on.ca.
